Calling all maps for mega coop romp

Have you ever played svencoop for halflife?, well if you havent with one or 2 friends your missing out. Anyway I am going to soon (soon for me is liek about a month ...) be getting all my obj levels and anyone elses donated levels and kitting them out for coop play, it will be very simple one way play where you mosh against tanks and ai with your pals. It will be ideal for small lan or for when a friend comes to visit and you have a second pc.

So far its myself and uber soldats maps and anyone who makes quality maps (or at least would like me to look) or has a well made level that isnt quite finnished is welcome to donate. Naturally the load screen will have "such and such" a level by "whoever" and the big intro and finally will have all the mapers names, so full praise to any participants.

If its not enough for you to just donate a map but you want to kit it out with ai be sure to contact me about getting the right models and code for it, we dont want a laggy error filled joke of a campain, its gotta be real smooth. You could even add puzzles and a few supprises along the way if you want.

As you can imagine the bigger the better, right now between me and uber it will be about 10 levels (as big as an ea expansion pack :shock: ) so If I get some more donations it would be nice to see it blow out to 20 or 30.

Imagine that, how awesome.

Also you might want to reduce any unnecisary custom textures although they will be ok anyway. Do what you like really, just be tidy and dont add any altered files, if you alter something remember to rename it. Also I will be using jvs sound hack, no altered ubersound files.

Anyway I have hood to finnish and some other maps that are finnished but have more work to do on them and to release them. But I would like to begin organising this coop campain now because of all the mappers that will dissapear to cod.

just any old obj maps, or do you have a theme?

Any old map, I will try to bunch together maps that are similar and when you go from say france to snow I will put in a cut scene or guys boarding a train, something to make at least an atempt at being seamless.

This project is what I have been working up to, its gonna be good, jv did the research for me a long while ago. So we have mp tanks flaks mg's and ai, made especially for mp.

Servers will be set to one win so you get that single player feel, but you wont be on your own, though you could try lol.

I'll look around on my computer for old maps, probably not finished maps, people can use as they wish.

Great you're finally getting started on this :wink: One thing I'm curious about is, what happens when you die? Will you respawn? Or do you have to wait till all players are dead?

Are tiny maps allowed? Like the quick maps in CS where it takes you like 20 seconds to beat the other team And then you start all over.
If they are then 'hopefully' I will upload them by friday.

Yeah jv you keep respawning, I might even have the spawns at the battle front and the first time you spawn you get telleported back to the start of the level, the approach to the town or battle area to build susspence. Then you will respawn continually till you fight your way to the end where you will hit a round end trigger.

Small maps are fine, make sure they are pretty and good to look at. Small is good, lots of small levels.

Jv if you like I might do with your help once I am deep into this. Iether way I know you and tltrude and other gurus are here at .map to help.

If you get a chance check out server at 66.68.143.67 Its a Spearhead Version 2.15 server. You may like the Idea there. Its running 20 map on the rotation. The 20 maps are all from the single player missions. The difference is that all the AI's have been removed, the maps have been made smaller by using blockage to keep players within an area and Its just strait up TDM game. The only draw back at this time is that player have to download a 279k file to get the foot steps and explosion sound. I am hoping that Jv_map can supply me with a work around for those sounds that will work in Spearhead and that will be server side.

Yes so far everything there is server side so anyone can join in the game an play. Check it, maybe you know the answer to the missing sounds and can help me out.

I already stripped out the AI's from the Breakthrough expansion pack. All I have to do now is just creat spawn points for each team and some blockage to make maps playable.

Soon that will be online. LOL.

No problem very easy to add them back, way to easy. It will take me 1 minute to add them back into the game. Thats the easy part. Stop by it its open.

The ai needs to have special properties to be played in mp + I am in oz on 56k so any server abroad is of no help to me. I hope to get adsl soon.

I understand your delema with the 56k. But this is for clarification, The AI's are the one in the single player maps and nothing is need it at the moment besides enebling them back. They will charge just as they would when playing single player. The only difference is that I added spawn points to make the game Multiplayer.

Especially for ppl like me who can't do internet play (v slow connection) and only have 2 pcs in a LAN!

The server will lag then crash............
