New Error with my new map?

Ok, I was compiling, then I tried to use my file and it didn't load, just went back to the main menu. I tried re-compiling and noticed this sucker.

What the prob exactly? I shouldn't think you should need to worry about the .prt error.

I try to setup a team match or a free for all multiplayer and it goes to the loading screen, but never loads, just goes back to the main menu screen.

Sounds like you missed the part of the tutorial that says to put an info player start and a light in your map. Right dlick on the 2D window and select Info -> player -> start. Every map has to have one (only one) of those. Also place at least one each of the Allied and Axis player spawn points (they are also under Info -> Player). Green deathmatch spawn points are for Free For All games. The light is also on the list of entities.

Ps: Just in case you don't see "Info" on the list, Make sure "entdefs.pk3" has been moved from MOHTools/docs to MOHAA/main. Also, the console will normally tell you why the game crashed (the ~ key).

Awww fudge, I just got the map to work, and holy crap, I am a giant. I now have to go in and change over 500 brushes to the correct heights. Any ideas???

It is common to be a miget on your first map. So, you must be an uncommon mapper, ha ha.

Every 16 units (key 1 zoomed in) is one foot. Using the default grid (key 4), every grid square is 8 units by 8 units. The players are 96 units tall (six feet) and 32 units wide and deep.

I like to make my doors 128 X 64 X 4 (or 8), but everyone has different ideas for door size. Walls should be 16 units thick to keep things inside from being visiable outside at a distance. That also helps to keep players from poking guns through the walls when standing next to them. If it is a bunker, the walls should be 32 units.

A buinding story should be 256 units--from the top of one floor brush to the top of the next. But, ceilling height is relative to the type of building it is.

Steps are normally 16 by 16 but, if you need it steeper, 16 high by 12 deep is about the limit--to keep players from falling while running down. They can be a little as 4 units deep and still be climbable. Steps should aways be made "detail" (Ctrl Shift D), or the vis compile will take much longer than need be.

ERROR: MAX_POINTS_ON_WINDING exceeded

There are too many vertices repeating themselves along a single axis (ie you have an extremely long single brush). It can also mean you have a "brush side polygon" somewhere with more than 64 corner points.

SOLUTION: Find the offending brush (edit -> find entity/brush, and enter the brush number.) and either delete it or cut it into smaller pieces.
