Help Please

Post by ZipCrash »

Ok I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I have two big problems.

1) My ladder won't work but I followed the instructions to the letter on Nemis' Tuts

2)Everything looks to big but like for the door I followed the instructions taht Nemis said in his tut.

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? If anybody needs any screenshots to see what I'm talking about I can get them hosted on a page. Any help is very much apprecated. Thanks

I would need to see the screens. As for the ladder, what doesn't work about it (can't get off, can't get on, etc...)
Toby, or not Toby, that is the question...

For your doors follow this rule. Most 'normal' doors in the maps provided by 2015 are the following dimensions:

width - 64
height - 128
depth - 4 or 8 (your choice)

As far as ladders. Make sure your ladder texture reaches the floor. Make sure also that the texture cover your fake ladder and extends beyond it by at least 2 grid units. Make sure when the ladder texture is highlighted you select func/ladder. And also make sure at the top of the ladder texture that there is a minimum of 114 grid units of empty space above it so the player can jump off. Any less and he will not be able to leave the top of the ladder. The player size in game is 96x32x32. With that all said and done you have to set the proper angle for the person to climb the ladder. Go to the top view mode in the 2d window. Choose the angle that the player would have to walk into the ladder texture to climb.
