Ok guys, after many months, I'm finally going to announce the release of my final three MOHAA/SH maps. And updated files for "Gun Assault" and "SoS1". And before I go further: I have got to give all the credit and thanks possible to the guys at AFTER-HOURZ.COM for their countless hours of beta testing, suggestions, and support over the last 7 months. They've made all of this possible. They run a real class act and will continue to support Spearhead into the future in addition to 3 dedicated CoD servers. I strongly suggest that you check them out at: www.after-hourz.com and visit their forums as well.

Thanks guys..you're too numerous to name, but Painkiller, Bystander, Obi, and Poopy are four very valuable members who gave me a home for my maps and all the critical input any mapper could ever want.

"Streets of Stalingrad-2" Sequel to SoS1

"Town Assault" Sequel to Gun Assault

"Tractor Works2" A new updated and redesigned version of the original.

UPDATED:
"Gun Assault" The 'classic' dynamic spawner map....fixes one texture tear and adds a few more cover items; adds health and ammo supply to allied spawn base.

"Streets of Stalingrad-1" A prelude map to the new SoS2 fixes 1 off-map issue and adds some more background; fixes 2 bad windows.

All three NEW maps continue with my 'dynamic spawner' scripting where TDM and TOW modes come together in a hybrid TDM game. Each team can advance their spawns by working together to gain 'ground' and force the other team back. Each map allows for a *bonus* switch at the opponents base that will unlock/make available portable MGs and/or mortars.

Try them out and let me know what you think. NOTE: TW2 may experience lag issues on servers with 16 or more players. I have spent three months trying to fix this problem to no result. Please take note of that. I realize it is not optimal to release a map in that condition, but it plays very well with fewer than 16 and depending on your server and client connections, may be fine at 16+. OVERWRITE any previous files.

2 Answers: They are Spearhead maps.... I did not include textures for use on AA servers. However, you could search around and find special texture pk3s that have the SH textures to add to your machines.

The warning: Damn...didn't remove it from the in game text...it will only show up once. Sorry about that...should only be the one map. The reason it was in there is because I got tired of BETA versions from noted special test sessions being posted all over the web... making a real mess of keeping things straight with folks.

As always Slyk, great job. It's great to see these released after the extensive testing.....and it payed off. Slyk's maps play a HUGE role in the success of our rotation, and give our community what they have been looking for, great large maps that provide balanced gameplay and great battles. The spawn logic works wonders for the TDM rotation in need of tactical battle maps. Slyk has been hanging around After-Hourz ever since Gun Assault and honestly we rely on his work to provide us with quality maps.....and here are 3 more added to his list.

Great Job Slyk, your work is appreciated!

Nice work Slyk,

Think that sos2 is the best of the trio with distance. It has nice FPS, main drop on my sys was 51.0 in open areas. (Gforce4 64Mb running a 2Ghz). Think that's well done in such a large map.

I see you relied on vis quite much. Think that's very positive. Many maps fail in playability by not taking FPS/Mtex into account.

Think that the texturing is done basic but with the illusion that there is really a world around there. Good mapping on that part, however some indoor texturing should be a little more low scaled, since they tend to diffuse when in proximity.

A little vis-error is near the building with the HAP(or HAQ ?) texture. Doors on the adjecent building dissapear there.....

However. It looks promising and i wanna see it online! :D

Thanks Vonderbakluft: I am guilty of scaling up textures quite a bit. I found that by doing that I can actually help out the FPS in areas as the engine isn't working so hard to draw as much detail. The VIS thing breaks my heart. There are, I think, 74 VIS groups in that map +/-. The FPS holds up well with up to 20 players, actaully. It will take a bit of hit if one of the AT guns is being fired while an artillery strike is called in, but that's over in 30 seconds. These are all meant to be played from a team perspective. They can be run and gun, but they aren't nearly as much fun. I know they tend to catch a niche group, but I really think that if more guys tried them, they'd soon find that they enjoyed the play style. Time will tell.

I appreciate any input, regardless. Depending on how CoD tools are and busy plans there, I may come back to tweak these maps with updated releases, but that would rely on guys giving help and requests for them.

Slyk...great job on the maps again it looks like. I already have tractorworks downloaded, and in play, it is one of the most detailed and well done maps I have seen. The mortars and the anti-aircraft weapons really add to the map. I have tried to download your new maps, and when finished, I get a pop-up box that asks me what I'd like to open the maps with. Have never seen this pop up, as I know your original tractorworks was downloaded in a zip file, which downloaded and transfered to my win zip, etc right away. Do you have your tractorworks 2, and streets of stalingrad 2, plus town assault in a zip format somewhere to download? Thanks for any help. Also, would like to know if you are open to doing any mapping possibly for me, of course with pay. Your maps are some of the most realistic I have seen. I am interested in something along the lines of carentan, based on band of brothers, or something based on bastogne. Anyway, hope to see more of your great maps! Airborne all the way!

326.... the maps from my posted link are already pk3s... just drop the file into your /mainta folder. If you have more problems, go to:

http://www.after-hourz.com go to the Spearhead page and download MAP PACK #6. All the maps are there except for TW2.
