WHAT DO I DO WRONG

Post by cyberzomby »

So
Tom Trude fixed my Mbuilder (once again thank u for that)
But my next problem (Yup im a real noob)
is: Ive done everything to tutorial said i needed to do BUT
when im loading my map i get the load screen with those guys and the bar or the button that sais loading and than blinks. And when its finished loading this is what happens: if i get the red bar it keeps at the last point and i get a compass and a health bar but the drawing of the guys and meddal of honor is still in front of it. Like the computer forgot to take the loading screen away and just put a compas there and a health bar.
please help me again.

room

Post by tltrude »

What you are seeing is the "void" outside your room.

There must always be one info_player_start in the map (in your room). Also, put in at least one info_player_allied, and one info_player_axis. There should also be a light inside the room.

If your room has a door to the outside, you will need a skybox. A skybox is a big hollow box that surrounds your room. It has a sky texture like "mohday2". The botom brush can be caulk with grass texture on the top face. After you have that, highlight one of the skybox brushes and press key N. Then add:

Key: suncolor
Value: 60 60 60

Key: ambientlight
Value: 17 17 17

Then save and compile. Those Key/values will turn on the sun. Play your map as a "Team Deathmatch" game.

Here is a nice guide by Turret_Toad.

hmm, i dont think thats it tom. when u have a leak it wont compile. check to make sure that ur room textures arent caulk, when they are, thats exactly what happens.

wrong again

When you have a leak in the skybox, the vis compile is skipped. But, the map still compiles into a bsp.

If you have a foged map and there is a script error and the script does not load then you don't have your farplane values so no fog and no fog means the your sky chaulked walls of your sky box will look like the void . check the console when you try your map and see if the script loaded ok .

script

He has no script--it is the "first room" tutorial he is talking about. I had him place his bsp in the dm folder.

It is possible that the only thing done "wrong" is that Radiant was not minimized before entering the game.
Make sure that Radiant (although you don't have to close it completely) is not "open" and visible on your desktop, but rather minimized.

If Radiant is open while entereing a map in MoHAA, you can get the effect you described.
