Or any kind of movie besides a texture on a wall written as a movie in the shader?
Thanks

How big is the file you wanna play? Ive seen in other games based on a similar engine small animations which used over 100 different frames, but im sad to say they used the animap function in shaders to get it done. If its not too large you may wanna consider this idea.
If you have something that can break down animations frame by frame and convert them to tga's it most likely will number them in sequence for you. After that just do alot of copy paste or something to create the shader. Time consuming i know but if it is vital i dont know of any other way.
Hope this helps.

I believe you can reference an avi or roq in a script, but I have no idea if it would work, or exactly how it would manifest itself. You can play a pretty long set of frames using shader animation.

well what you could try to do is convert the avi into a roq. i had a program like this a long time ago, ill looks around for it.

That was my first idea to make a little movie with the camera facing a brush that was textured in a movie kinda texture.
But an avi or this roq thing sounds better so I thought I would ask about it first. Is there a way to test this, would someoen give it a try. To play one in a mp game. You wouldnt have to make one cos they are already in the game. I just have no idea how to script it in, I wouldnt know where to start.
Thanks

level waittill prespawn
drawhud 0
level waittill spawn
thread briefingskip
thread freezeplayer
playmovie credits.roq
thread endbriefing
end

I am going to do it the old fasioned way and run a big animation. Is there a way to make the shader with out doing hours of copy pasteing? I might use 100 frames. I will have no trouble making the jpgs but the shader might be very hard.

yes it seems typeing cinematic 2015intro.roq into the console before starting a map works but in a map it stops the map and I think you have to use the esc key as well , too bad . I guess you waill have to use spearhead

I think the animated texture will do the job. Might need help with the shaDER.
