well what the problem is some textures like fence set 1 in misc\outside
well the problem that i was having is the brush that i was using{misc\outside\set 1} when i compiled the map the brush was still black not see through being a beginner i checked out other peoples maps and i found if i used no draw on the top ,bottom and 1 side the fence seems good you can see through it now so i thought great got this sussed now whether this is correct i dont no but it works so i tried it on the texture misc\outside\netting and it dosent work on this one any suggestions why this is, or is there any tuts out there for this problem any help would be very gratefull

for masked textures (as these two) u need a texture that has a shader written for it or rather a shader with its textures.
So 1st of all, go to ur preferences, turn off "Show Non-Shader Images". This way, u will see just the textures which have a shader.
2nd, choose misc_outside/nettingtest. This ought to work.
