To add a texture to your map, first you have to select a directory from the Textures menu. So if i wanted a texture from the game that was used in the normandy maps, i would select, Textures>Normandy.

To texture a brush, hold shift and click on it, then in the texture window (bottom right hand side) select a texture, and walla its 'painted'.

To make a door go here :-
/t.php?id=24

I think you meant height and width for the door ^^^ its all in the link. Rememer this, weight doesnt exsist in games!

As I am new myself, please dont think that my sizes are the same as everyone's. Personally I make my door frames 128 units high and 72 units wide. My frames , either it be metal or wood, are 6 units thick. And my doors are fit inside the frames, as for thickness I make them 6 units thick. To put textures in click on the Textures button on the radiant toolbar. My suggestion would be to put caulk on all your brushes before applying any others. Caulk is found in Textures > Common. And to add texture to your brushes, highlight the brush and pick the texture you would like. For adding texture to just one face of the brush you press Ctrl+Shift+Lclick on the face you want to add the texture to.

try to be more specific whne posting a problem. instead of saying "it doesnt work" what exactly doesnt work? is there an error. does it appear not to have done anything in game, what is the file name, what does the shader look like, all this helps more than "it doesnt work"
