Can you post the commands you use to compile, and what the compile prints out?

Hi there, as far as not moving, you may have your player start a little below the "ground" brush causing you to be stuck in the ground. And with the light part, you can add sunlight or ambient light. There are some good tuts out there. Its easier for you to follow the tuts if you're new at it. They also have pictures to help describe everything.
Good luck

With the light still selected you hit "N" and type in the "KEY" space:scale
And then type in a number such as "5". thats how u change the light size

Hmmm, well here is how I change the size of a light.
Key: light
Value: 350
The default size is 300, so make it more for bigger and less for smaller. The bright part of the light (when highlighted) should not shine through to the otherside of wall, floor, or ceiling brushes--gives a light leaked error when compiling. It's ok if it sticks into the wall, but not through.
To use ambient light, highlight a wall or skybox brush (any worldspawn brush) and hit key N again. Then put in this key/value.
key: ambientlight
value: 18 18 18
The bigger the numbers, the brighter it will be. If you do have a skybox, also add this.
Key: suncolor
Value: 65 65 65

I have found that the absolute easiest way for me to
adjust the radius of a light is to use
alt + [ to shrink it, and
alt + ] to enlarge it.
If you have your Radiant command window open, as you adjust it, the exact radius is shown.

Did you ever figure it out? The only other thing I can think of is either your controls are not configured in options (although I would assume you've played alot if you're mapping), or there is a entity/brush or something stopping you. Keep us posted.
