under ground

I want to make an under ground but when to go to CSG it crashes my radint.

Though CSG Subtract can be used succesfully if used with care you would probably find it easier to build the hole in the ground with structural brushes, it may take a while longer but the results will be worth the extra effort.

but try just building a room under your groung brush, like this:

Don't use it dude, I did for awhile until I saw the negitive effects, CSG subtract that is.
Instead do what was suggested, build your terrain in pieces, then u can
make a hole by moving the pieces around.

Make sure you aren't trying to CSG subtract from a 'LOD terrain'. That crashes radiant... if the ground isn't LOD, Rebuild it so you dont have to CSG subtact.

You can't use CSG on LOD Terrain! To cut a hole in that, you need the facet editor (Shift F). Hold Shift and Ctrl to highlight the little triangles, and then click on delete. They will then be hidden in the game, but to see them in the editor, click on "Color Surface Flags" in the LOD menu.
IF you are using solid brushes for the terrain, highligh the brushes you want to cut and the cutting brush, and open a new map. After the cut, save the cut up brushes as a prefab.

i dont know why csg gets such a bad wrap. it makes things a whole heck of a lot easier when used properly. ive never had any problems with it ever, except when cuttin trough lod, but thats not possible so its pretty expected. someone care to explain why its considered the wrok of teh devil?

its heavenly not only useful,instead of spending hours trimming,clipping resizing,rescaling,moving and deleting brushes u just click one button.sounds like a dream if u only use it well

I'd rather take the extra time to ensure that it's done right, myself. But if you don't experience any problems with it, more power to you. But personally, CSG crashes my maps if I use more than once or twice.

ahhh, its crashes radiant for some ppl. no wonder i never realized why peoplw hate it. it never crashes for me, is it a coinsidence, or is there someone out there who knows how to fix it?

if u called it an error that it does NOT crash YOUR radiant, here's the fix: make some LOD-terrain and try to CSG substract it. Then, u ought to get the desired crash

Another reason for ppl hating it, is that CSG in more complicated cases does weird decisions about where and how to cut. Very often it is better to cut manually and have more control over how the resulting brushes are done.

well,id rather spend the extra time repairing the small problems that csg subtract made rather than creating new brushes and organizing them 2gether
