Alright Im trying to make a fence on top of a stonewall so I put two patch meshes side by side in oppisite directions and applied a fence texture. When I want to adjust its size, the texture totally disappears and I cant get it back. What am I doing wrong. Does the texture automatically fit to the mesh?

The Surface inspector can be buggy for primitives.
Try manually typing in the values instead of clicking the tabs.
**It will still disappear after you type in 1 of the scale values, but after typing in the second, it will show up.
If you adjust the scale, and then the alignment, you may then need to add the scale again.**
It's tricky and annoying, but you'll get the hang of it.
BTW...some will work normally.........

It's hard to get patch mesh texture right. If you hit key P, there is a button named "natural" that will bring it back. But, it is much easier to just use a normal brush with nodraw texture on 5 sides.

no draw, does that mean u can see through it, so u could see a fence or hedgerow??
Yes

Yes, you can find it in common/nodraw, and you will see the fence from both sides with your fence texture on only one face. That is how most of the see-through textures are applied--like tree lines, grates, and railings.

some textures have cull none in the shader . That type like water can be seen from both sides of the brush . The 5 sides with nodraw on them won't draw but the 1 side with the fence texture will draw and be seen from both sides . Not all textures shaders have cull none in them . I think maybe you can use keyword fence to put the right textures into the texture window .

The keyword is "masked", bdbodger.

Oh, one other thing, you can only use two textures on a brush that has nodraw--or you get an error. So, don't add a third texture to the edge faces--make a frame for grates.
