question about fog?

Post by =Sgt. Daniel R. O*Neil= »

Im just curious does fog help with frame rate problems in wide large open spaces? I noticed a few people who tried one of my maps said they had a frame rate problem in certain parts of the map while people with high end killer machines like mine didnt experience to many frame rate drops at all. So does fog help in this? :?:

When farplane_cull is set to 1 fog will help increase your framerate.

Everything that's (partially) invisible because of the visibility distance won't be drawn. When you use a skybox that has a very different colour than the fog you'll notice some 'chopping', i.e. faces that disappear too quickly and therefore look weird.
