i need to know my options....

right. im making some weapon models for my Black hawk down mod (which no-one has signed up to help me with.. :( ) and i need to know my options.

it's a single player mod so do i need to model my own man or can i just make a gun with some arms and fingers.

or... can i just make a gun.

to be innovative (i know its been done before) i wanna put iron-sights in my mod. i need to know how to make an animation to switch to iron-sight mode and how to make it so i can press my "z" key to go into iron sight mode.

and basically the same problem for reloading.

and then... can i possibly replace a game weapon model (say a thompson)
with a weapon model i made.

I know probably no one person can answer all these questions (except for maybe mohaa_rox! fre answ3r5 pl0z0rz, mohaa_rox!!)

this is what i'm doing first. then i will make a small test map to try it out on.

then i will get on with the proper mapping and scripting.

i have still made only one map (a very crap one...) so this wont be the best mod ever but with some help from everybody here im sure it can be a success! thanks all, later!

u just have to model the gun. as for new animations, i can help u with some. i have a whole list of animations of modern weapons here.

can u tell me how to skin them. and how much does the full version of lightray cost. im thinking of getting it if i dont get milkshape. the dled version cant export.

what about the iron sights? how do i do those.

or how about i just model the weapons then you take care of the technical stuff k?

well, skinning is a learning process. First u learn modelling, then uvw mapping and then skinning. i started off as a noob but progressed under help of others.

as for the cost of lightray, go to www.sxcreations.com/lightray3d.htm to find out

iron sights has been done, but not a toggleable one. u have to change the viewmodel anims.

and i'm pretty busy so i'm afraid i cant help u much with anims.

is there any way to do toggleable iron sights at all? it just wouldnt work if you looked through iron sights the whole time! (well it might sorta but it wouldn't be as fun.)

Hey i may be out of line here but if its gonna be a single player mission who is to say that he cant maybe go into the single player mode with the ablility to change the iron sight views?

I know i went into the game before and altered the position of the gun through console before so.......although i dont recall if it is cheat protected or not, but even if it is go into the game in dev mod and run a few alias's that will allow you to switch from regular to iron sights. Heck you might even be able to zoom with it......

We arent bound by the same rules of multiplayer here so i think it is very possible.

I cant promise much but if you need help with toggleable iron sights let me know and i will see what i can do.
