Hey all! I am just going crazy right about now.
I have been a smoker for oh, 15 years......
Saturday I decided I had enough destroying my body.
But let me tell you....it is no easy task!!!!!!!
Even though there is nothing good about smoking, the cravings are incredible!
If you don't smoke, don't EVER start!
If you need a bad habit, get addicted to mapping, not cigarettes.

You know what i find helps when i am trying to quit. Food lots and lots of food!!!
I mean keep stuffing your face everytime you have a craving. I mean it man it works. We will worry about the negative effects of over eatting later. BUt i know your pain man im a Kodiak man myself and so many times i want to rid myself of this ghastly habit but cant seem to get it done.
Wait come to think of it eating doesnt really help now does it? Well at least i was able to keep your mind off the topic long enough to read this.

One of the components of the habit is that it occupies your fingers...
...so try playing with someting to occupy them... My suggestion is to roll a coin over your nukles... You do that for two weeks and you will:
1) Not feel the need to have something else in your hands.
2) Learn to do it well. I'm so envious of any guy that just sits back looking relaxed and rolling a coin like that, and not even looking at it. Looks sooooo cool

Keep it going, and don't give in. Try a few deep breaths when things get bad, that can do wonder's to calm you.
Longest I recently went was eight hours. Pretty bad.

That's a bunch of tips and tricks.
As far as flipping that coin....it could work, but would be difficult to map with only one hand.
The problem is not physical. It's all in the mind. I just need to keep myself convinced that I am not a smoker.
After 5 days, I still have to fight the cravings, but I am told that it should get easier soon.
Thanks for all your support!
*I used to quit every night before I went to sleep......and started again every morning.
I started chewing gum......hoping that will help. So far, when a craving comes up it seems to stop it for a while.
I will beat this!

toothpicks helped when I quit for 6 months, but then come christmas started again.
the second or thrid month is hardest, you begin to convince yourself you have already achieved soemthing so relapses are 'ok' The first couple weeks arent so hard when you really want to quit, and you have good reason =) Its later, when it sneaks up on you...
Avoid drinking socialy at all costs!
One funny thing about quitting smoking.... for coffee drinkers anyway....
you get so used to waking up, getting some coffee and sipping it as you smoke a cigarette(hopefully your first, but ive seen some people literaly smoke in bed when they get up), and that morning coffee as well, or any coffee, becomes habitualy linked to smoking. So a cup of coffee can touch off a huge craving. So why not just say no to coffee? Because coffee is addictive too! Caffeine withdrawal + Nicotine withdrawal = GoD DaMn mY hEaD iS gOInG tO F*^&%$# eXPlOde.
addictive stimulants are fun =)
anyway good luck, I quit like 3 times for 6 months+ and started up again, but then again I dont have a strong motivation to quit.
I know lots of people who have and after a while the cravings dont come every day, more like weekly or monthly or whenever your friends wave cigarettes in front of your face and mockingly ask if yo uwant one, when they had never felt like sharing before =)

This must be universal for all nicotine based products, cause this is exactly what I experienced with chew.

And I also had to quit 3 times before (supposedly) giving it up for good. This is the forth time. Each time was for around 6-9 months. How familiar.

I learned that we have to keep our brains working! As long as you find something else to do, you'd giving the first step.
Good luck to all of us!

I'm glad I never started.
