when i tried to make a pk3 folder, the tut that says how to do it doesn't make any sense to me. also, in my mohaa/main folder, i don't have serveral subfolders, such as global, models, ui, ubersound, and a few others.
what is wrong?

A pk3 file is just a Winzip file with the extention name changed. So, to make one you copy your maps folder in main and use Winzip to make a zip file "maps.zip". Then right click on the zip file and rename it "User-mymapname.pk3". Now it is ready to share with other people.
You only need those other folders if you have added modified textures, script , sounds, or files that are needed to play your map.
The maps folder that you are going to zip up only needs two, three, or four files which should be in a folder named either dm or obj, unless it is a singleplayer map.
mymapname.bsp -- the map
mymapname.min -- preloader
mymapname.scr -- only if you have made a script for your map
mymapname-precache.scr -- only if you made a precache script
good luck!

Try and find the program "pakscape", it's much easier to use when dealing with pk3 files. I don't have a link for it rigth now, will add if I find it.
ok

(I'M THE ONE WHO POSTED THE QUESTION)
does it have to be "mymapname" or could it be something else. i mean do you just use "mymapname" as an example, or is the name manditory?

just an example.
you could call it black_forrest.map if you wish.any thing you want.
