Gotterdammerung released!!!

Post by tltrude »

Coming to a pc screen near you! A brillent conversion of a StarWars Jedi Outcast map called "Kejim". Gotterdammerung uses most of the original textures. Vampir and I have transformed it into a Nazi ICBM base.

But, this isn't your typical "V2 Facility" map because the Allied Players can shoot down the missile as it launches, or blow it up in the silo. The Axis Players must try to keep the silo doors closed, and prevent the allied players from stopping the countdown or destroying their final hope for victory!

The zip is big because we used most of the original Starwars textures and sounds! Get it here: http://smallsumo.leveledit.com/tltrude/index.html

Sweet deal! I played the Star Wars version. At least I remember parts of it looking similar to that.

FPS

Post by tltrude »

It has the highest FPS of any map I have ever worked on. As you can see in the screenshots, I get over 100 in some places with my old Geforce3 card. Vampir gets over 300 with his new card. The map has 18 areaportal areas and 11 vis_leafgroups.

I guess it will work in Spearhead, but it was never tested for that.

Well, to be honest. I'm speachless.

VERY nice job guys. That has to be one of the best looking maps I have seen!! Kinda wierd runnin around in a star wars atmosphere  but still is extremely well done. BTW I ran the map in spearhead and everything seemed to work correctly, but I was only in there by myself  Someone else needs to play this bad boy with some pals and see if it works right (in sp) with others.

Once again, awesome job guys, hats off to ya. And hope to see more great work from ya.

On a personal note, I think all of you exceptional mappers and scripters ought to get together and create your own game. Hell with the brains I see come out in these forums, it should be a concern to a few of the game developers out there. Some of these maps look better and play better than some entire games.

I'm not going to download your map, for fear of depressing myself, with my woeful inadequacy. =)

It looks really good though, good enough that I might have to force some people to try it on our server, despite my utter disdain for extreme genre swapping in maps =)

I can see myself now... mauser in hand... cursing aloud because my damn jedi grab power isnt workign to throw the allies off the ledge....

PS- is there Wagner playing in the background? =p That would rock.

testing

Post by tltrude »

If any one wants to test the map, or any objective map, by themselves, here is how.

1. Unzip the pk3.
2. Find the script for the map (maps/obj/goterdammerung.scr)
3. Open it with Notepad or Wordpad and find this line.

level waittill roundstart

4. Place two slash marks ( // ) to the left of it and save.
5. Put the script in main/maps/obj to override the original in the pk3.
6. Trash the rest of the files and folders.

Now you can run a server and blow up the missile to your heart's content.
