What is the maximum length a player can jump?

(on default gravity settings)

Not sure, as it depends a lot on the skill of the player jumping at the right moment.

Make a test map with a gap and loads of different gap sizes.

yes, a test map is probably best: For a gap players should be able to jump, u need a width that can be jumped easily and for a gap players should NOT be able to cross, place a playerclip and they won't get over no matter how good they are

*jumps off edge to get to secret location..*

IM GONNA MAKE IT, IM GONNA MA-

*hits invisible wall, falling to death.*

ahh.. stupid clip brushes

that's happened to me a few to many times :P

as long as we are discussing jumping... I know of a way that allows you to jump higher and further. It helps in a lot of places where people think 'hey! howd you get up there?!'... All you have to do, is get a running start, let go of forward key at a close distance away from object or ledge, press Jump and tap/hold forward while at peak point of jump. It takes some practice, but once you get it down its very helpful during gameplay ... just wondering if anyone else has realized this.

LOL:
yeah, seen from this point of view, clipbrushes can be annoying.
On the other hand, I think even worse are fences, windows or railings I can't climb, thousands of locked doors I can't open, the fact that I can't lie down, streets barred by a tank and so on...
All this is common in many maps and is quite accepted, so those clips in places where u obviously shall not be able to go, ought to be okay!? They are rather annoying to those who rather try to landshark than just stay where they are supposed to be.
And worst are players camping on roofs or even under the map where they shouldn't be able to get. So - atleast in cases where the architecture is requiring it - a well placed clip is - imho - the best solution.

Thanks cheetohs for the tip on jumping big gaps. On 1 map i was seeing many players jumping a gap that i couldn't and i would fall to my death. Now i can do it no problem :)

I found the max high where a player can jump up to on a object.

I's 74 Units ( space and when you are at the max high press foward )
This won't happen with 75 Units

( To jump on a object of 74 units is quite difficult so first try 73)

Jump a beveled wall

Recently I found out that it is impossible to jump over a beveled wall, even if it is only 56 units high.

U can't. The only way to jump that high is to adjust the gravity.

With normal gravity all I can jump is 64 units high.

Probably because you step on the angled part and slip down...

That's quite impossible unless you are superman  , keep in mind that's over 30 ft.
