first map

Hi,
Anyone like to take a look at my first map?
I finished my first map and would like to know what you mappers think of it.
I don?t understand ?VIS? yet so the fps is not that good

Also there are some little mistakes witch I couldn?t fix in time. The problem is that the next 2 weeks are the last weeks we have our own public server

and we really wanted to play the map on our own server before we couldn?t anymore.
So I just want to know what you think about the gameplay and the look of the map.
It?s sort of a remake of the bridge, I tried to make some things the same as in the stock map and some things different like the tunnel, the hotel and some other things. I?ts also possible to get on some roofs.
So if someone would like to take a look at it I would be very happy

Hmm that's realy strange cause I did not use any custom textures except for our clan logo witch I did put in the pk3 and witch is working perfectly. Also I used this sky texture "t2|4_ed.tga" witch I also put in the pk3 just to be sure.
The water and the metal also are comon textures witch you can find in Radiant. And I did put 16 allies and 16 axis spawnpoints on each side of the map to prevent spawnkilling. In fact I asked a question about it on .map how to do that.
Also there have been 80 ppl who downloaded the map and played it on our server who havent had any problems at all. and all the spawns are working perfectly.
I am aware of some 'little' things like some untextured faces and some other things witch I saddly couldnt fix in time as I said.
So I dont know why this seem to happen only with you until now.
All I can think of is that you opend the map in mohaa instead of spearhead. Maybe I should have told it is a spearhead map. If thats not it i am realy lost
Thnx 4 taking a look anyway, hope you will try to open it in spearhead if you didnt before.

Hi again,
Sry I don't want to spam but i just wanted to say I tested the map myself in mohaa and I got the same problem with the textures so I'm pretty sure al the textures are ok when you play the map in Spearhead. Maybe you (or anybody else) would like to take a look at it in Spearhead.

I suggest you insert the SH specific textures into the pk3. If there are no SH specific features in the map it would be just plain stoooopid to demand using SH... you would get a WAY larger player base if it could be played in AA. I've only got AA, and I'm a bit interested in taking a look at this map.

Hi Bjarne,
I would like to include the textures into the pk3 file but what I don't understand is why the sky is not visible in AA while I put the texture in the pk3 already.
I made a folder callled "Textures" in that folder I placed three other folders.
1 "Logo" with the logo texture inside
2 "mohmnu" with the loadingscreen image inside
3 "Sky" with the sky texture inside
When I start the game in AA I can see the logo but the sky and the loadingscreen image are not visible. Am I doing something wrong ?

Ok now I understand why it didnt work for me. I was using AA not SH. And yes I agree with Bjarne, you should make it playable with AA also, because some people dont have SH.

Hmm... if you HAVE included the textures... Downloading it right now to take a look at what is wrong.

OK, what you did was to include the editor image ( the one you will see in the texture editor in Radiant ).
You need to include a shder file for the sky, and the actual sky textyres ( 6 of them: up, down and the 4 sides ).

I like this map. OK, so its not basically your design, but yiu did the same and added some complexity to it. This could have been a bad thing if it was an original map ( did this compexity error myself ), but because everyone knows the general design: it only adds fun and more options for strategical decisions ( and there wont be a lot of veterans that knows the exact angles where they can stay hidden and stoll shoot you

).
When you fixed the textures, you have a number of small brush errors spread around the map ( not ligning up or missing textures ). Fix these and you have produced a map that may actually appear on servers.
Good work so far: but dont make the common error of releasing it before it is done.

i previously ran a tow map on mohaa and it appeared something like this ,i didnt know then that tow was a sh specific map

.so probably thats the same reason it didnt work on mohaa 4 u guys .

I will fix the errors soon and try to make it an AA map to.
After that I must learn about 'man vis' cause the fps is a to low
