Barrels

Post by Spike Naylor »

I am having problems doing barrels.
In the editor all works fine.
in game it looks like this, the bottom of the barrel texture is crap.( the whole barrel texture appears complete but not filling the barrel.

Any info on fixing this problem.
Any tell me in detail how to get pictures on these threads (if no picture is shown), as I have tried everything (something simple no doubt.)

I fixed the path in your pic link....

It looks as if you have two barrel brushes and the bottom has a texture that is streched. Is that one cylinder brush or two?

My tutorial map

Post by tltrude »

My Tutorial map has an exploding barrel that you can copy--I got it somewhere else too. It has five parts, so be sure to highlight them all before you switch back to your map.

To change it into an empty barrel, just change the properties with key N and retexture the side and four top brushed. Hitting Ctrl F will make the texture fit the barrel. There is also a script_object barrel below the expolding one.

You are welcome to copy anything you wish form this map without asking. The zip contains the map and script files and a pk3.

I've had the same issue a few times. It appears that some textures don't like to work on cylinders. Even my barrels get goofy too like your pic... and almost nothing fixes it and sometimes the same texture is fine once, then next time screwed up. What I try to do in making any cylinder is drawn the size as a box, then caulk it, then convert it to a cylinder...moving it but NEVER resize it into place. Next texture it and then use the 'inverted endcap' to cover it as no others seem to work right. I always delete my barrel bottom too since it's not seen.
