Nighttime lighting

I was told that if I replaced the 70 70 70 in suncolor and lowered the number to say 30 30 30, the light would be less intense. I am going for a night time feel much like the Normandy level which takes place at night. How would I go about doing this dull "moon" light? I do not want to simply use ambient lighting, because this lights all surfaces and gives the level a dull feel.

I think very low moonlight(like 10 10 10 or so) and and man made light sources(no ambient light) looks pretty nice on an outside night map.... but if there isnt a whole lot of reason for lamps... 10 10 10 is really low... like just shy of a full moon irl, which isnt much in a game lol

Look on the files section of this site, theres an excel document called worldspawn settings I think.
In there are most of the worldspawn settings for aa and sh.
If you use the settings from flughafen, this would probably be about what your looking for.
I am pretty sure you need to have the flughafen sky texture in your map to make these settings work, the farplane color matches the sky texture so if you use another texture it might look a little weird but hey give it a try

be sure to set the sunflarename to something other than sun otherwise you'll be blinded by the moon.

oh well,i guess u will just have 2 go by trial and error until u get ur right color .try making a small map with only the ground and the sky and experiment with it,that way it wouldnt take so much time compiling

What numbers would be good for a dark, blue moonlight?
suncolor

With suncolor the numbers do not have to be the same. They are red, green, and blue. So, try 15 15 25.
