Cull

Right now, in my fog, I have the pop-up structure effect. I have tried
farplane_cull 1
farplane_cull 0
farplane_cull 2
farplane_nocull 1
farplane_nocull 0
and non of them work. What should I do?

Tweak the farplane distance value until you have something that you're comfortable with.

Wouldnt that make the fog thin out?

It depends on the value you choose.
$world farplane X //Where X is the distance of the fog. 1000 is a real dense fog, while 8000 would be very far away.

Visible distances in my map are huge...almost the entire buildable world. (like 16000 units square?) Once I get to a point where there are no more pop-up structures, the fog is hardly noticable. Right now my farplane is at 12,000......popups are fixed but I cant see the fog. Cant I just turn off the pop-up effect?

try farplane_cull 0 and a skytexture of common/caulksky. the structures appearing will first have the same colour as the farplane and caulksky will be the same, so the popup ought to be gone.

Ah, thanks. Works great. No more starry sky, but this effect is even better.
