okay, so i've found me favorite map, m1l2, it's script, and it's bsp. i've messed with the script (adding a new guy with the spawn command) and am ready to see it happen.
how do i save it to inside the pk3 file? i got it from within there with pakspace and now i can't replace it!
this might have been answered before but my search only came up with the usual jumble of unrelated topics.
sorry if this is a dumb question, but iu've only just started working on pk3 files.
so let me give everyone out there a sincere.....
HELP ME PLEASE!

Using Pakscape open your files, modify them and save it in pakscape as ???.pk3 and put it back in main.
Sry, guess this is one of those HUH post.

so, basically rip apart the pk3 and redo it? that might work.....

well,u rip apart the pk3 to access the .scr file (script file) .but if u really want 2 work 4 it u can also rip apart the bsp file and turn it into a .map file so u can play with it on mohradient and add all the stuff u want .but u will have to repair the decompiling mess which will be harder than making a new map all over again

M&M is painting a rater happy picture here. Getting a *.map file from a*.bsp file can be done, but it will look NOTHING like the original *.map file. Reverseengineering a *.bsp can be a good way to look how things were done, but its not a good idea to do it and think you will get anything that is usable as a base for further development. Sorry.

so does the little slider on the bottom of the decompiler do anything for that?
not only that, i think i can do everything i want using scripting. i really only want right now to leash a guy to the player. i have the scripting thread ready, but i don't know if i need to re-Pakscape it using the same name (pak6.pk3).
will that work? saving it as the same name, just copying everything else from the pk3 i need and re-pk3-ing it?

well just save the pk3 by another name with the map your changing only to like user-m1l2.pk3 and that will override the original.
Yeah what does that little sider thingy do?l
what does the slider do anyway?

Is slides between more or less ( or something like that ) and I have NO idea what so ever what it does.
Never seen any difference in *.map files using different slider settings.
