I've been visiting the forums for a couple of months now. I've never needed to post a query yet as everythings been answered already. I'd still be having doors open in my face if it wasnt for the forum. I'm working on my first mp map right now and hopefully I'll have something to show in a month or so. Thanks for all the tips and to the folk who ran in to the same problems before me.

Thats what the sites all about - not just having tutorials to help you, its also about the community helping each other. Even if you don't have any mapping problems please feel free to post anything about anything within reason -

. Just look at the c**p that Gen Death posts

, anyone could do better than that..

Thanks Gen. Death. Was just reading your reviews on TMT of peeps maps. Like I mentioned earlier I'm building a map just now (.gamma version?). Given me a bit to think about. Thinking of putting 3 post it notes on my monitor(texture, detail, spawn points). Cross off originality just seen two maps with the same themes! Ah well no going back.
I look forward to exchanging cr*p with you Gen.

Nooo you don't want to read the reviews over at TMT - TMT sucks

.....
As for originality - its very hard to come up with something unique when your bound to a setting like WW2 so don't worry about it too much - just try and get everything else right

Yea the MRB @ TMT has went to sleep I think....they replaced me since some changes I needed made were too much work...lol
.Map is the place for reviews now. Overall I would say the reviews here are more advanced. You can checkout what we have so far >>>
HERE
Thx for taking the time to view the reviews. One of my goals there and here was to hopefully describe to the community what a map should and should not contain.

Thanks for the link. I,m about 80% complete on the ground level. The most time consuming bit is making sure it all looks authentic. Getting the right structure so that it looks like it all wouldn't fall to the ground is I think as important as layout. I'm always compiling the map so I can test how it plays. I'll leave ambient sounds, .scr etc till nearer the end when I know I've got no brushes overlapping and textures fitted right. One thing I found out on my own, is some textures don't like being on a long brush, gotta cut em up. Is it alright to post screenshots to get feedback on how things are looking?

Sure -
(1) You have to host them somewhere
(2) Make sure they aren't too big or they mess up the forums (a bit like Gen's post of the graphics cards

)

I edited your link so it works properly - remember to hit the URL button again at the end of the link or the forum will automatically add it to the very end of your post causing the link to mess up
