Bots and Weapons Question

Ok, hopefully this is going to be relatively painless. There is my problem. I spawned a Axis AI into a map. He doesn't do much but then again he isn't meant to. Really what I want him to do is stay relatively in the same point and shoot when people get close. I have no trouble getting them to use a rifle, a pistol, or a shotgun, its any other weapon that its a problem. I can get them to spawn with a MP40 or whatever but then they just stand there. I know this isn't the best way to do it but this is the script or the Axis AI.

spawn human/german_panzer_tankcommander "targetname" "bot1"
$bot1.origin = ( -4922 -7296 4128 )
$bot1.angle = (0 90 0)
$bot1.gun = mp40

The ai.scr has been executed and still nothing happens. If I don't put in a wepaon then he spawns with a piston or rifle and fires. So really my question is, is there any easy way to get him to use the mp40 he is spawned with. Thanks for any help you can give

Yes, he will shoot actually at anyone that walks by which is what I want him to do as long as I don't specify a gun. When I give him a gun like the mp40, panzerschrek, or the stg44, he just stands there holding the gun that I set for him.

Do:

$bot1 weapon mp40

or

$bot1 weapon stg44

or

$bot1 weapon panzerschrek // without 'c', 2015 scripters couldn't spell ;)

Thanks jv but they still just stand there. He has the weapon but he won't attack.

just a thought but use quotes

$bot1.gun = "MP40"

or try

$bot weapon_internal models/weapons/mp40.tik

Thanks for trying everyone, I don't know what needs to be done. The guy spawns, I can see him holding the MP40 but he just stands there and does nothing. Oh well, thanks for trying.
