theoretically yes it is possible but im not sure ud want to do it. see 3d studio would produce a model that u would place in ur map as a static entity so u would have to clip teh floor and stuff. also vis is just gone so its all gonna draw at once. id say its a bad idea but yes it is possible.

yes he got right you can draw in 3ds and export it as a static model .....and like he said vis design will be disable .....the better is to map the big structure in radiant ....and do those small static model with 3ds......thats the better solution

for the convert this is the way :

3d studio max(3ds)===> Gmax(plug in md3 export) export in .md3====>milkshape (plug in export in .skb) then you have your model!

I know there are plugins for programs like 3D Max and Maya to create .map files ( not models ), but as these programs are buildt in a funadamentally different way than Radiant that is created specifically to create .map files, you will run into problems. In any way I thing you may well create the start of a map in those programs, but at some point you woll be forced into Radiant to:
1) remove strange/stupid stuff created by the plugin.
2) complete the map.
...so unless you have a VERY good reason not to learn Radiant: I'd say dont try using 3D max...

gmax had a quake tempest pack, which allowed the user to export a model into a .MAP format. Try and search for it on google.com
