I've seen this reference to the "eye" icon in several posts lately saying to be sure it has no numbers on it.
I would just like to clear a little something up.
That is simply the camera control icon. It has no bearing on any other aspect of Radiant except how you move your camera through the 3d view.
In any setting, your arrow keys will move the camera, and
d will move the camera up along the z-axis, and
c will move the camera down along the z-axis.
The difference in the settings is how the mouse will move the camera.
Here are the controls:
A) With no number on the icon, rightclicking and moving the mouse will move the camera in this way:
If you right click in the upper part of the 3d view, you will move forward; the lower part, you will move backward. Left and right of course, left and right.
If you press
ctrl while right clicking, you will lock your forward view, and can "slide" sideways and up and down, all along the same plane.
If you
ctrl + shift while right-clicking, you will lock the camera's origin, and moving the mouse will rotate around that point.
B) With the number
1 on the icon:
Right clicking alone and moving the mouse simply rotates the camera around its current origin.
ctrl and right clicking will slide the mouse up/down and left/right along the same plane.
ctrl + shift is not effective in this mode. It is equivalent to simply right-clicking.
C) With the number
2 on the icon:
Right clicking alone and moving the mouse allows you to move forward, backward, left, and right in a controlled manner. The camera will not move unless you move the mouse.
ctrl + right click will lock the current plane, and allow you to slide up/down left/right along that plane.
ctrl + shift + right-clicking will allow you to rotate around the camera's origin, without moving along any axis.
Of course, the keyboard arrows and the d and c keyboard shortcuts work the same for any mode.
So, the camera controls are simply a matter of preference, and have no bearing on any other aspect of Radiant.
Choose the controls with which you are most comfortable.
