alright ive decided to try skinning. I followed the tutorial posted at the top of this forum and it was real nice.

I did everything it said. Edited the skin in fireworks made the tik and fps.tik as well as the shader. Couple questions:

1) do I have to use a tga or can i use a jpg?
2) I get this error when i select it in game LoadTGA: Only type 2 (RGB), 3 (gray), and 10 (RGB) TGA images supported
What does that mean?
3) do i need winzip for this or can i use pakscape. I dont know if I have the paths right.

Any other things you may like to add would be apprecaited. Thanks.

1. You can use either TGA's or jpeg's

2. I too have had this error and in this case i definately have used a jpeg and solved the problem.

3. You can use either Winzip or Pakscape, but I use pakscape.

TIPS

Be very careful with the various paths and all your spellings because a skin can fail simply for these reasons - Common Sense Really.

Make sure you use baseline jpg compression, not progressive or you'll get a 'feature was omitted at compile time' error ;)
