well,i doubt u can help me if u dont know it .but what will i lose ?
hyperthreading is supposed to be a new feature in some processors that (theoretically) doubles the spped of a processor by creating a virtual processor (dont ask me how) that can run like having 2 processors on the same comp !!!! ive visited intel and it seems that it does speed up the processing significantly (not double though) .this could also speed up the compiling of maps ,since q3map.exe supports processing on other cpu's .
this feature doesnt work on any version of windows except windows xp (pro and home)
ive looked everywhere for the manual and cant find it atm ,if u know how to activate it ,or a place that tells u how id be really grateful

I dont know if compiling will be shorter or not, cause the explination I got said that the processor gets divided when more than one application is started. But it would be worth a try since it's supposed to support more than one cpu. I dont know myself how to enable it either.

Afternoon, M&M.
"HyperThreading Technology" is just an Intel marketing ploy.
http://www.intel.com/products/ht/hyperthreading.htm
http://www.intel.com/products/ht/hypert ... g_more.htm
can provide software performance benefits of up to 25%
"up to" does not mean "of".
Cheers,
Scronty

well, ive seen the site scronty ,and there isnt any info on how to activate it !! .
i know it doesnt really double the speed .but if it didnt increase the speed (even by a small amount) they prolly wouldnt have advertised it right?
well that rings a bell actually, rofl. um try tweak xp see if that does anything like that. i lost my manual too, ill try to find it.
whats tweak xp? is that a program?
Check in dos to see if there is an enable thing in there, i recon it would lurk in there
i dont think so ,as the manual said clearly that it is only supported by windows xp (not any other OS) .and it did explain how to enable it ,but i was so dumb to lose the manual . i dont think a program would activate it either (might be,but i dont think so) ,the manual had a few screenshots and it showed that it was in something that looked like system properties .but ive checked everywhere there and i cant find it
if any1 knows how ,plz tell me

OK, I looked in a manual that came with my computer and it says to go into System Setup, that can be acessed by hitting F2 when you see the manufacuter logo when starting up, somewhere in there I think.

is that the bios u mean ?
there is already an option there which is enabled by default !!
however in the manual ,it said that hyperthreading is only supported by win xp .so if this was the one im looking for ,than it should be disabled by defauilt !!!
also ,im sure i didnt imagine that it can be enabled from somehting in win xp . if only i could find the cursed manual !!!!
i looked everywhere for it but cant find it

Well on my computer these keys take you to different things: F2, F8, F12
what are the different tings those keys take u to?
are they different versions of the bios?
by default the bios key is del ,but that might change wih the different motherboards as well as the bios itself .
f8 is usually what displays the settings of loading ur OS .there should be afew setting slike safe mode and others
in that screen everyoption has a shortcut !!! (usually f1 to f12 ) for instance safe mode is f3 i think
