Is it a very very large map? LOD terrain is great, but there are limits. You could try making it in sections that are not connected. Also, detach and delete sections that the players will never see, like under buildings, patch mesh hills, roads, or water.

Check to be sure you have not adjusted your terrain out of limits.
In any one section, if the distance between the highest vertex and the lowest vertex is 512 or greater, you will get a terrain error, and it will not render in game.
You can easily tell if this is the case because the culprit vertices will become yellow in Radiant.

Got no yellow vertexes, the difference between highest and lowest vertex is about 200. The facets are all drawn. Nothing is filtered out.
Lod is large. Its made of three pieces and i thought about a limit too. But i once got it working and didn't add patches or moved it.
I removed some patches depending of the limit and to optimize but it didnt work.
btw - how do o get the compiling-logfiles on my desktop?

run the bsp, vis, and light stages, respectively with:
-v > C:\bsp.txt
-v > C:\vis.txt
-v > C:\light.txt
This puts log files to your C drive, of course if its different you need to change it, and if you want it to go to the desktop you can change it to the desktop. Note that you won't see anything in the cmd screen.
got it (hope so)

Rebuild the whole terrain-thing once more and it seems to work now.

No problem, btw the -v part tells the compiler to print out more data, and doesn't affect the final files.
