Ouch M&M :( I'll cut down the size of my sig for you...

:evil: im insulted !!! but i guess ur right

but i dont think it matters that much ,ur sig is already small :wink: .by the time i readur post the sig wold have loaded up :D (unless its already in the temp files which i rarely remove to save on bandwith)

i have found that win xp is much faster and im gonna upgrade to it soon ,i already have it installed but its a little buggy ,a reinstall would prolly fix it .

i managed to get a similar score to this one with wn xp on the old site (cheetos's one) www.testspeed.com/fast.html

so prolly this might get a little higher with xp :D (i can only hope)

Dont go to this site!!! www.testspeed.com/fast.html

I dont trust the site!!, It's wrong

Every time when I refresh, it gives always the same speed in 4 different numbers.
I checked the source of the site I found a very long script you cant read, many unknown signs
It looks like a hack or virus or something.

When I go to www.testspeed.com you must first download something, a file (they said its for checking your speed) uh uh I think NOT

And look to the speed in the screenshot ^^^^ thats impossible.

M&M, you think your's is bad, check this out:

Communications: 31.9 kilobits per second
Storage: 3.9 kilobytes per second
1MB file download: 4.4 minutes
Subjective rating: Slow

:wink:

almost the same !!
but for this test ,i started closing all the unnessary applications and stopped all browsing to get the max out of it :D .so maybe thats y ?
on the testspped one i was still browsing this forum during the test (it was horribly long,so i got bored)

Well nothing else was using a connection so... Maybe I did it in the evening when everyone is on, I could try it a 4 am and maybe get better results.

For me I see no need in freeing up system resources to get the most, I mean it's not like the computer is recieving more data than it can process. :wink: :lol:

Yeah...

Sometimes I'll multi-task, I'll be browsing and while I'm waiting for a page to load, I'll do a bit of mapping or something. Sometimes I think I could make a small DM map while waiting for a page to load. :( :wink:

atomic, and all that readless stuff is actually commented out, it does absolutely nothing!
the actual script looks like this:

Code: Select all

time          = new Date();
endtime       = time.getTime();
elapsed = (endtime - starttime)/1000;

kbytes_of_data = 1000;
linespeed     = kbytes_of_data/elapsed;
kbps          = 0;
kbytes_sec    = (Math.round((kbytes_of_data*10)/elapsed))/10;
kbits_sec     = kbytes_sec * 8;
HAHAHAHAHA hardly a speed test imo.
