Resizing images as links.

Hello and how is everyone?

Just a quick q....I have been at .Map for quite some time, and have yet to
figure this out.

In almost any other site I post to, I can create a thumbnail image in a post that you can click to enlarge. At this forum, I have been unsuccessful, either with html or ubbc......
Does anyone know the code for the thumbnail/enlarge method of image posting for .Map? Or would I have to upload a small pic with a link to a larger image?

Its done here:
/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7358

view the source. :wink:

Code: Select all

Objective random position 1
<br />
<a href="http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/%7Erjukanproject/tiki/show_image.php?id=98" target="_blank" class="postlink"><img src="http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/%7Erjukanproject/tiki/show_image.php?id=98&thumb" border="0" /></a>
<br />

<br />
Objective random position 2
<br />
<a href="http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/%7Erjukanproject/tiki/show_image.php?id=99" target="_blank" class="postlink"><img src="http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/%7Erjukanproject/tiki/show_image.php?id=99&thumb" border="0" /></a>

Yup you need 2 pics, a small one and a big one, then type bbcode like this:

Code: Select all

[url=linktobigimage][img]linktosmallimage[/img][/url]

I can do it on the VonderCrunch forum, Nemesis' page, Alliedassault.us, Uberclan........to name a few.
It is a simple code, similar to what jv_map posted, except I do not need to separate images. I can resize the large image directly on the forum page, and link it to a larger image.

Here's an example:
Sample image resize.
The thumbnail images are simply scaled down versions of the larger image, not a separate picture, using this code:

Code: Select all

[url=http://webzoom.freewebs.com/crunch/shot0022.jpg][img width=160 height=120]http://webzoom.freewebs.com/crunch/shot0022.jpg[/img][/url]
I cannot use the same code here to resize one image.... :?

I have never been able to get html to work in a post, even though it says it is on.

yes thats because Admins have to set certain HTML tags allowed. so u can only use certain tags.

By default phpBB (the forums used on .map) allows these tags:

<b><i><u><pre>

Yup that's right you can only use <b>,<i>,<u> and <pre>... that's done to prevent users from posting crap like <iframe>s :wink:

yeh but thats what u can do with BBcode anyway. the default settings are sensible because even with <a href=""> links ppl can add stuff like onmouseover.windowstauus whatever to mess wiht .maps appearence or to load about 500 po-ups and install applets and crazy stuff...

but .map is a great communitty, i was even shocked to see other communitys, one everyone abused each other all time... and they were mapping forums like these (well, gaming forums)...

i doubt anyone would do it... maybe a PHP guru could edit PHPBB code to allow it? also, i suggest u look for mods and extensions on www.phpBB.com, they may be one, if anyone finds one ask an admion, u never know...
