ATI Drivers - What's the ideal version for MOHAA?

Post by diego »

I know a lot of you guys are running ATI cards.

I've got an All In Wonder 64 8500DV. For a long time I've been running the original drivers (from 2002) and MOHAA was running great. I upgraded once upon a time to Catalyst 3.1 so I could play "Battlefield 1942". But that made MOHAA unplayable. So I've stuck with my old ones ever since.

This weekend I updated to Catalyst 4.4. (So I could play Battlefield again). Catalyst 4.5 has issues with "Enemy Territory" so I didn't go that high. I thought they would have the glitches worked out by now. MOHAA runs ok, but the image seems really jerky. I've adjusted my video settings to the lowest quality (Something I never had to do before). But the Edges of surfaces still seems to vibrate when move.... almost like crappy FPS, but my FPS is still in the 90's.

I need speak first a information to you about the Ati and bugs on the Mohaa...

I believe to it was not solution your problem. But it help to you understand the efects of Ati do not found in Moh...

Mohaa console is a adaptation of Q3 by Id Sofware...

The Q3 console is creating in 1999-2000. And i do not understand to you remember in that time the consoles is creating based on the video card consoles:

Code: Select all

The Q3 console in the Quake 3 is creating to the Glide of 3Dfx. The adaptation to the Mohaa incraze the speed and quality for the nVidia placing the efects of the nFiniteFX. And decraze speed and quality to 3Dfx because 3Dfx "dead" in 2000...

Based on this history we an conlue to the console of Mohaa console give quality and speed to nVidia and nothing to 3Dfx and Ati because in the time of creation the console Ati not is a one of the world best in the visual games graphics solution...

And today the news graphics card and Catalist druves of Ati do not can liberation the power of visual quality and speed in much games of 2000 because he do not can give the adaptation to graphics of Ati creation at today. And the others Moh do not have the adaptation corret designed to the Ati tecnologies and the Ati stay lost in this case with you news drives because do not can place news tecnologies in pratice...

But the nVidia give advantage because can suport to the news nFiniteFX series withought modify the console...

I believe to the news Catalist and news Ati video card do not help you to give the solutions to graphicals bugs...

But wiat the new Mohpa. This new version have a high adaptation in the console based now in the nVidia and Ati do not giving advantage to the nothing of this video card...

If you have more speed and quality of graphics today is best go to price a nVidia video card. But is best wait the new Mohpa(Medal of Honor Pacific Assault)...
This message is simple to information to you to today is normal have problem in the Mohaa with a Ati and a 3Dfx video card.

I speak to can 90 fps. Go to the Ati drive in the video settings and place the more possible AA. Check the Hardware aceleration(out the drive) it need stay in total. Place in the configs to stay in the more best visual quality...

Sorry if i confuse you!!! Sorry with my bad english!!!

Is best tou do not install news version of Catalist...

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply, Rodney. It was a little confusing, but I think I understand what your saying.

So, ATI cards were crap when Q3 came out. So I will probably never get very good performance out of it.

I'm not sure if I can go back to my old drivers. They would not run Battlefield 1942 at all. But I'll look at my current driver settings and see if there is anything I can adjust.

I will also check some of the older versions to see if they have one that will run each program equally well.

Has anyone here ever tried using those Omega drivers for ATI cards? I hear they are supposed to boost your FPS.

Whats odd is the 9700 pro I had ran mohaa perfectly on the highest settings. But this new 9800 xt is much worse, it still works but is jerky.
I've tried new catalist and new agp drivers for my agp chip, with no better performance. Its a real bummer.
I once was lost, but now........... I'm still lost!
