hi all,

ages since i asked a mapping question here, but now i am stuck again :(

i put a 'lamp>swinging-lantern' in my map, i kinda expected to swing but oh well, it had a cool flame in, which was just what i wanted.

anyway, as i tested this map i noticed you can only partially see it, or not at all, until you get up close. Here's a pic to explain better. getting closer with every screenie, you can see more of the lantern.

Image

I woudn't mind if you could only not see it far away, but you can't see it in a room where you can see everyother thing!

I am sure this is not my PC, as i have every single setting max, with my new PC :D On my old comp i would have put it down to a naff PC, but now...

also,

i have a fireplace in my map, and would like to see some fire in it. I have tried every fire thing on the right-click menu... but all have been either too big or different types of fires.

i have tried all fx>fire, fx>fire>****, and static>FX>fire (which is the same as fx>fire).

so how would i get a fire the size of a fireplace, like the fireplace in static>furniture>fireplaceset ?

many thanks for any help, and sorry for the typing mistakes!

After you put the fire in your map scale it with the scale button in the entity window or with the key: scale value: ?

May be because of your model detail settings, combined with a bad LOD:ing of this model ( I get the same thing :? ).

i found out why:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ERROR: DOWNGRADING TO OLD ANIMATION FORMAT

You've used an old model in your map. Possibly the .skc file in
the /newanim folder is missing. These models will generally suffer
from severe LOD changes, causing them to look crap from far
away and at lower detail settings.

SOLUTION: Use an other model or don't mind.

^^^ taken from compiling errors thread ;)

i do mind though... can i make a .skc file for it?
