FFS what happened to my last post, anyway
after compiling my map i got a leak, so i fixed it and recompiled, leak gone but now i have a black line running thru the map.
its not in radiant and it disapears if u look at it from certain angles, ive made sure there are no views or access to the void, ive tried restarting mbuilder, renaming the file and recompiling and ive moved the map across the grid but the line is still there.
help

thats most probably caulk leaking into the map .i dont remember what caused that though .so u gotta follow that line and see where it's source is .then i think redo it all over or re-texture it and it will be solved .i had this quite alot ,specially with stairs or ladders .

usually it is something like a ladder . Too many vertices on a single plane I guess is a way to describe it . find the source of the line and make the brush into smaller brushes . Like for a ladder make the rungs smaller than the rails and make the rails into smaller brushes say 2 on each side instead of 1 .

If this is what I think it is, all these black lines should originate from the same place, usually a ladder, railing or other structure where a lot of brushes are lned up against a single brush...
Is this the case fuhrer?

it originates from a staircase railing. which makes sense from what u guys reckon.
whats weird is i got this on the map months ago and couldnt get rid of it so left the map alone, came back yesterday recompiled it after moving a ceiling brush and it was gone, now it came back after i compiled with a leak. hm ill redo the stairs and see what happens.

No need to redo it, just cut the handle in 2 or more pices so that you only get like, 5 spokes per section. That should fix it.
