I was just wondering....

First, the ground space in Radiant is limited so max map size is wotever the grid size is, right?
Second, you can resize all models, including player models in-game, right?

So here's my question: Could you build a map half size, scale all the models (including players) down to half size and therefore have double the map space?

I got nuthin in mind, i was just wondering.... wot u think? Pony for TDM in a 2 player server but could make good obj maps 8-)

wot say you, wise ones?

you cant scale down the height of players in regards to brushes I think. You could make a really small world, but players would still be the same size... kinda like gulliver. If you can scale down info->starts, i have serious doubts as to whether that would actualy change the scale of the player in game.

in my opinion the grid size is more than anyone would ever want to build...most large maps take up only around half the grid size.
4/5000 square is more than enough.

yes

I saw it done once for an aircraft carrier map, with flyable planes. But, as far as I know, the map was not released, and I don't know how it was done.

YOu can't scale the player down, you'd still be at the same height. Good idea though.

yeah i hear that about maps being big enuff already but I guess I'm thinkin with choppers etc....

As for no rescale of player, we had a 'Ganja Man' mod on our server for ages that, on trigger, made the player double size (and extra health etc). The mod evloved to later include other triggers that made players half size. Dunno how but it does it.

I'm sure i heard someone talking abour this before... and the answer was something to do with worldscale? I'm not sure what, or when, but it could be useful to search up.

If you can reduce the scale of the player... you lost much the visual quality... and was not can creat small bushes... because the size is more than the normal...

I believe to is best... incraze the scale of the player... to get much more visual quality... and to can make bushes with more detail...

But... is best do not moify the scale of the player...

Sorry with my bad english...

Thanks!!!

Yes I see what you are saying rodeny, like in an image, make it huge and you can put lots of small details in it, but make it real small and you lose a lot of small details.
