Explain this: IF LEAK vis=<200,000 IF NO LEAK=4,000,000+

Can anyone explain this B.S.???
If I leave my 'roof' open just 2 units, I get a compile vis size of less than 200,000. IF I close it as needed and compile, the vis size skyrockets to more than 4 freakin' million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has happened on more than one map. Any ideas? What if I just leave the leak? What harm will that do as it's in the sky and there is no way to see it???????
