I would personaly say yes it's too small, how many people are you hoping can play it at any 1 time?
I would say that size map would suit 3v3 or something along those lines as anymore and you may have problems with spawn killing etc.
I would say a middle sized map would be around 4000 sq (suitable for up to 7v7 imo...even then thats stretching it)
This of course is only my opinion and the real test will be when you populate it.

Make sure the top of the box is high enough to stop grenades going through - even in the stock maps you can throw nades that just vanish into the sky. This kills the whole sky illusion so I always make sure the sky is high enough to take a nade thrown from the highest point.

Map length and width i think is up to you... it isn't too small if it plays well :)

i never thought of the height for nades. thx. I think i may leave it, get a few ppl to test and add later if i need to, but i did think it was too small. i believe spawn killing may become a factor and i am trying to think of ideas to get rid of that.

Personally I think that is way too small. When I build an outside map, sometimes I use that much space (2000 u) just blocking the players view into the nothing, putting trees, hills, buildings, etc...
