i appreciate that.

but i meant lightNing. not lighting. i have read all of those posts. very helpful..

but i was wondering about realistic lightNing. my flashes are sort of blue. not bright white or even gray. does suncolor and ambientlight contribute to the color of lightNing or does the color of my skybox?

Ops misread that .

If you're using global/weather.scr, your flash colour will always be 0.9 0.9 0.9, where 1 1 1 is white and 0 0 0 is black.

If it looks blue it's either your monitor or your graphics card that does so

is the .9 .9 .9 is that inputed into the worldspawn or is that just automatic when using the rain texture?

and if it is inputed into the worldspawn, how can you change the default?

The color is set in 'weather.scr', it temporarily sets the world farplane color to this value which is obviously white, during the flash, 90% as bright as it can get. After the flash, it restores the world farplane color to the level farplane color, which is set by the initial world farplane color. This is interesting to know, because if you set the level farplane color and use the 'weather.scr', what you enter for the level farplane color will never be used.

To change the color of the lightning you would have to write your own weather script.
