ladders and brush manipulation???

i need help manipulating brushes into round and triangle shapes.
and why when i make a ladder sometimes i can climb only half way, and sometimes cant climb at all, btw i followed your tutorials on the ladders (both tutorials)
P.S.
im a new mapper.

1. welcome to .map
2. as for triangles and circles, look at the brush drop-down list at the top toolbar and find the shape you want. for flat circles you can clipper a sphere to how you want it.
3. make sure your actual ladder brush (the purple one in front) goes all the way up and a little bit over the destination at the top and you detailed the physical ladder (rungs and all) and didn't make them a func_ladder, that might mess up if you have two ladders.

The ladder brush must have clearance, or the player will not climb. There must be at least 128 units above the top of the ladder brush. Also, there must be 48 units between the ladder brush face and the wall behind the climber. The hole at the top must have 48 units clearance too.

the hole at the top u mean the distance between the top rung and top of the ladder?
ooowwww, and when the custom textures tutorial will be up?
i need it to make a clan map.
and how do i make breakable wood?

By hole I mean where the ladder goes through a floor above--if it does. The clearance must be 48 units from the pink colored ladder brush face to the wall or ceiling edge behind the climber.
Te easiest way is to make a brush that is 128 high, 32 wide, and 48 deep. Then use it as a guage to check ladder clearance.

on i followed the patch mesh roads tutorial.
i opened the surface inspector and pressed fit. and when i press "OK" the texture turninig into dark green, why?
