Spawning objects in stock maps help

Ok...i took the original stock map .scr and added the objects i wanted to spawn..then i saved...opened pakscape...createda folder called MAPS..then inside that 2 folders called DM and OBJ..then i added the original map.scr to the appropriate folder....and saved as zzzzzzz??????.pk3...then put into mainta..then started game and went into START OWN GAME to see if they worked....and i dont see anything!! is this the right process? and also...where do i put the objects under? LEVEL WAITTILL SPAWN or LEVEL WAITTILL PRESPAWN...i tried to use a object that i saw on MOHAA EDITTING website http://www.mohaa-mods.web1000.com/spawn.html....and i couldnt find the object....

please help!!

You don't need a pk3 just to test it. If you place the modified script (.scr file) in mohaa/main/maps/dm, or obj, it will automattically override the original multiplayer script that is in pak5.

ok...i put my modified map.scr file into main/maps/dm or obj...then went into the game to the map..hit editscript....hen open it..but it still comes up as a the stock map.scr......it doesnt show any of my changes?

You said mainta directory - thats either Spearhead or Breakthrough (cant remember which) im not sure if either use different code to Allied Assault or if that model is in there but its worth u checking to see if it has that model.

I belive that in spearhead the file have to be in a pak but for mohaa they can be outside of a pak . In mohaa the ones on the harddrive overwrite the ones in the paks but I think it is different for spearhead .

It dosn't matter if it's AA or SH or BT, they all can be done the same way. Just make your modified scr and place it in the same directory structure that you found the original one in. for eg maps/dm/dm_brest.scr.
After testing add it the a pk3 file with those same dir's and name the pk3 User_mapMods.pk3 or something descriptive. Put it in main/ for AA, mainta/ for SH and maintt/ for BT...

Oops, Bdbodger beat me to it, he is correct. Must be in a pk3 for Spearhead and Breakthrough...

Ok...thx for the help guys!!

I have notcied that if i add an item/items then create a pk3 file for it...and then put that pk3 into mainta that itll show up when i hit editscript...now im assuming that i either have to make a pk3 file everytime i add an object..or once i create the first pk3 then i can go into editscript and make changes then save...then restart..and tsee the new items ive added!!

Thx again for the help...i love learnin' this srciptin' stuff and once thats done maybe i can finally create my own map...woo hoo!! :D
