WindowsXp and MOHAA.......

Well I got my new computer, but it does not seem to like MOHAA.

1. The file called "configure.exe" crashes when I click on it.

2. "go-EZ.exe" thinks my processor is a "-911Mhz" when it is really a 3.4Ghz with Hyper Threading. It also says my operating system is "WindowsXP Service pack 1".

3. The screen flickers in the game. My monitor resolution is 1280 by 1024 at 85Hz refresh rate, but the game is using a lower refresh rate--probably because I can't get "Configure.exe" to run.

Any ideas would be very helpful!

hmmm, sounds strange, MoHaa must work fine with XP. But if your computer is too fast for MoHaa somehow that would be odd, but I dunno

Anyway about the processor, what is it saying about your cpu, when you go to Configurationscreen > System

Anyway a general tip, don't set your monitor refresh rate too high, many ppl got damaged computers of it, it will mostly happen after a while, you will see thin stripes through the screen all the time (even when u try to set the refresh lower, it would be too late), but don't know if this warning also is needed for newer computers.

You can try this:
Enable "multi-texturing" in the OpenGL settings. You will find this in the advanced settings for the VGA drivers, in the Display Properties.

Maybe this will work against the screen flickers in the game. Dunno if this would work, but you could try

Oh owyea, my Configure.exe crashes after I clicked at OK, not by starting it

Check your vid card driver control panel... it usually has an option for overriding the refresh rate for full screen 3d apps :)

dunno much about #1 and #2. do you have installed all latest drivers for your new mainboard and stuff?
#3 sounds like the common 60Hz refresh rate bug of WindowsXP, it simply wont allow higher rates ingame. To avoid it, you can use several progs like RefreshForce where you can set the desired rates yourself.

The system info for the computer says 3.4Ghz, and so does the new Mohpa demo. That demo does not flicker at all, so I am sure it is just some compatiblity problem with Mohaa.

My vid card is an ATI X800 SE with 128Mb. It has a slider bar for setting higher performance or higher quality for both 3d and opengl. Right now they are both in the middle "balanced" position.

Windows had the refresh rate set at 75Hz. But, I upped it to 85Hz because the desktop was flickering. The monitor can handle 85 just fine, as that is one of its standard settings for this monitor.

All applications that use full screen, work great--except Mohaa.

Ps: it is good to know that I am not the only person having problems with MOHAA/Configure.exe .

Can't you make mohaa crash and then select the option "start in safe mode?". Once you get into the options menu you can configure your video settings instead of launching Configure.exe.

Never crashes when you want it to, ha ha! Ok, I got it to crash and started it up in safemode. But, I didn't see any extra video options. they look the same as normal mode to me.

Btw, the screen flickers in safemode too!

Jv-map - I know you have an ATI card too, or at least you did. How do I get to the "overriding the refresh rate for full screen 3d apps"? I can't find anything like that--I have the latest drivers and vid control panel for my card.

Sweet it's fixed already :), but this is where you'll find the refresh override feature (if I remember well):

control panel -> display -> settings -> advanced -> displays

Then click the little icon near the primary monitor... a new window should appear with some options like vsync and composite sync and refresh rate override 8-)
