well my GeForce MX 4000 is well...

getting to be a commoner's item.

i need something like a TI (what is this? heard about it but could never find one), if possible a nVidia. why? because i am stubborn and die-hard nVidia fan and also very stupid in not realizing that the two brands are basically the same.

in any case, if anyone could point me the right way to a cheap, effective card that'd be nice, i googled all over and ended up with a massive headache and numbers floating before my eyes.

check the vga charts 3 . its a bit old but will suite the "cheap" motive you are after.
and an advice, dont get a TI, get something in the far end of the FX series. after 5800.
or if u can get a geforce 6 :P . cause although the TI is a very strong card, most of its technology is alittle out dated. so it wont live as long as you think

if you cant afford either, then your best bet is to get one of the radeon's in the end of the 9000 series as they are generally cheaper and outstrip any corresponding card from geforece up until the fx5900 and 5950 where things get more to geforce's side
