Editing Facet Flags

Hey Guy's
If you edit the facet flags in lod ie delete a few, i understand that they are not really deleted and you can get them back, or can you ?
If so how is that done ?.. I see they turn sorta yellow and some of them (if not most) remove the texture but others dont.. Is that a problem or nothing to be too worried about ?....
Cheers

They're not really deleted within the editor, only marked as deleted, this tells the compiler to ignore the facet, thus deleting it ingame. If you highlight them and uncheck delete they should reappear.

The texture of the deleted facets should be the same as the rest of the 512 x 512 patch that they are in. If you set the lod scale to 1, it will look more like it does in the game. But, scale 1 lags the editor a bit, so scale 4 is the default.
How the terrain looks to each player in the game depends on what "Level of Detail" they have set. As a Map maker, you should always check to see what your map will look like at low settings. But, you can force "max detail" where you do not want the terrain to change at low settings. That is done automattically around the hole when you delete facets.

Thanks Tom,
The deleted segments appear yellow in colour almost transperant, with the edit contol window open, ie ctrl +shift click. if i slelect them without that window yes they appear the same as the rest of the patch as you described.
However the texture does not look the same deselected. ie still white ish... the grass tex for argument sake disappears ?, it looks ok in game and does not render differently.
I can see the deleted sections and are yellow, so i assume that be the way it should...
The other thing i notice is when a segment is checked and i hit the done button to delete, occasionaly i see a few extra segments like neighbours, also change in appearance just curious it seems ok in game, and yes have noticed it does lag the editor so to speak...
Thanks for the tip on LOD level too

Any facets adjacent to those you have deleted are forced to be max detail (I think they're shaded red).

If you click on LOD Terrain > Color Surface Flags, you should see the facets that have been flagged (without highlighting an LOD patch). That setting is not saved, so it needs to be reset the next time you open the editor--if you want to see the flagged facets again.
There is an LOD tutorial in the docs folder of MOHAATools. It includes a section about the facet editor.
