the default RAdient LOD terrain goes on modelling prinicpals, you move vertexs around until they make the shape you want. it's real easy to get natural lookin terrain from thi by jsut randomly picking up and putting down vertices.
if the tuts are still here... nope the tuts got lost.
ok well first you create a slightly bigger than 512x512 Radient units brush and find the tab on the top that ses LOD Terrain, hti that and find Create From Brush. yor brush will shape itself to the closest 512x512 blocks it can figure out. (LOD liek this only comes in 512 by 512) it should jsut be a white mass that looks liek bleached sheet metal.
while you have it selected hit "V" (Vertex) and a bunch of blue squares should pop up.
now you can edit it's shape real easy. jsut pull on a vertice or drag it around. the vertex will move and configure the LOD to iteself. there is rarely any LOD breaks, so you can torque it however you want.
some interemediate techniques are doing stuff like Shift-clicking on a vertex, that selects all the vertices in either horizontal or vertical direction. shift click again for a different direction (Horizontal or Vertical)
control-click lets you manipulate multiple vertices at one time.. same as shift but mroe freeform.
and you can lock vertices to keep from accidentally manipulating them, but for a test thing you wont need to worry too mcuh about that.
anyway i hope this helps.
