Although I stated before that one of the things that I liked about the .map forum was that there were no avatars, I was the second to use them.
How easily I change my mind. I know I violate the max size slightly with mine, but I haven?t gotten it to look right smaller yet.
A little background on mine:
The 5th Army shoulder patch is in tribute to my grandfather who served in the army during WWI and WWII. He actually served in various divisions during his service. But he served most of WWII in the 5th Army and until he retired from the service in 1956. His final permanent rank was Lt. Colonel.
The sergeant major patch is based on the rank I have here @ .map. I plan to keep it updated as my rank changes.
Personally I was never in the service. My father was in the Navy, joined 14 days before VJ Day. He spent his time typing discharges for everyone else. My oldest son is a Senior Airman, Air Force obviously, now deployed in a hostel fire area. My younger son is about to join the Marines.
I am proud of them and just hope they are as fortunate as my grandfather to never be wounded. I find that amazing with 2 world wars and 43 years of service. Yes he was on the front lines quite a bit, including Anzio!
Sorry for rambling, Later
