I made a huge terrain for my map...added some water to the river...a player start...skybox...and ambientlight 60 60 60....and so on...i just wanted to look at the map with the terrain but when i compile everything goes fine until it gets to the RADIOSITY LIGHTING section and then it just stops compiling...now if i take off ambientlight and the sky box then it will compile...i have checked and gone thru the steps many times...what am i doing wrong?

For a start your ambient light is way too much... but thats irrelevent for your problem.
Ok to skip radiosity you can do one of 2 things.
1/ create a "deliberate leak" in your skybox ,this will then ignore vis & radiosity.
2/ in mbuilder under light options put in this comand -bounce 0
Hope this helps.

The quickest way if you just want to see how it looks, is to not do the lightcompile step at all. Great for testing stuff like "can I get up there?" and "is this area unpassable?" and "does this bomb work yet?".

The times when you dont care about how it looks, just how it works.

Yea...i use mbuilder and the BSP, VIS, and LIGHT sections are all blank!

Except when i turn radiosity off using -bounce 0

There is awindow with the compile commands in it... write "rem" ( withour " ) before the line with MoHLight, or remove the line.
