It may take a while for radiant to load the map... (up to several minutes if your computer is kinda slow). There may also be errors in the decompiled map (actually it will be full of errors) but usually they aren't severe enough to make radiant crash.

Yea i know what you mean..i can see the shaders loading but then it just seems to stop after about 1-2 mins and it says the program is NOT RESPONDING!!

I had a map that took about 7 mins to open... It went into - and out of the "Not Responding" stage :)

Just open it and go to lunch, when ya come back, it could be done :P

 Really?

Sorry I think I know what you meant to say, but it didn't come out quite right.

Just give it a few minutes it'll get there. Go get a snack or something...

Filter out all the stuff you don't need to look at, and moving around the map in radiant will be easier. Also, you can use the brush repair plugin to remove the 10,000 or so duplicate plains caused by the decompile--takes a long time to remove them.

Here is a link to the plugins, if you don't have them.

http://pages.sbcglobal.net/tltrude/Temp/plugins.zip

Put the unziped files in MOHAATools/plugins.

The best tip is to practice. Don't expect your first map to be perfect, because mapping is a continuous work in progress. It's good to build small example maps where you can practice making things and doing what you read from the tutorials until you are satisfied with the results.

decompile mess

It is a waste of time to try to fix a decompiled map because it would take longer than stating from scratch. Normally we just use decompiled maps as reference to see how things were done. They are good for snaging a few prefabs too--like arches, terrain, road patches, etc....

Hey Tom...how do i use the plug-ins that you sent me to fix all the errors on a decompiled map just so I know as a future mapper!! And also i was wondering if i want to use sumthing as a prefab do i just select the whole object and the go to File...save in prefab or whatever it is?

ok..one more question...Im using the new BSPtoMap decompiler...now i noticed that there are a few options that you can CHECK before decompiling...now i was wondering which is best to use to use and/or not use?
