Just got back from my friends, AMAZING eye candy, I loved half life, this one seems like its gonna be fantastic.
I only saw the first 15 mins, got to a point where Gordon got his suit, the theme tune kicked in, was a bit like james bond, all off us cheered
At some points the graphics seemed photorealistic, some of the textures are truly outstanding, pitted ceilings truly look pitted. It truly blew me away.
How does PA hold up against this one ? PA isnt out in the UK yet so I dont know.
Sad thing is its now time to trade in the old workhorse and upgrade my motherboard, chip, ram and case.
I was thinking athlon 64 3000, anyone have an opinion on what would be a good buy right now ?
I saw this motherboard, chip and ram bundle, the second one down
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ ... ndles.html
?290 and a case will be maybe another ?30-?40, I have a 256 gfx card, soundcard, burner, drive and everything else so its seems a cheap route.
What mobo and chip should I get ??

Anything you'd like to get I say, it is going to be outdated soon anyway.

Yeah you got that right, obsolete before I even bought it.
But this is what I ordered to day
Crucial 512MB (2x256MB) DDR PC4000 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit Memory
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (Socket 939) Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939)
I will have to upgrade my hard drive next time I have some cash and more ram would be a pleasure but the dual channel thing is meant to be pretty speedy.
So im hoping it all fits together and works ok
will let you know how I get on.

That would be enough for the next year or so.

ive only seen screenshots of PA, I cant play it with a geforce 2
which sucks cause i barely care about playing it, I just want to map and mod stuff.
from what i saw the lighting and terrain looked far superior to the older MOH's - but hard to tell from SS's. It looked nice, but not mindblowing or anything.

They have a flash movie on the official Mohpa site now. It starts with part of the intro movie from the game. It also shows singleplayer action and comments from veterans.

One thing about the new MOHPA engine is the amazing ability for foilage, if you had the same in AA you'd be doing like 2fps, then again the PA foilage is much lower detailed but still I can get 20-30fps on medium-high settings... I have a Radeon 9600se 128Mb
