Dog sounds! jv or bd please.

Hello,

We all know lots of people are having trouble with sound in AA and alittle bit in SH but not as bad as AA when it comes to using sp sound.

Now i was trying to add some sounds to the server for AA, and have done this many a times for my mods, but for some reason dog sounds are not caching.

I tried bd's dmdogs sound and it just says it needs a alias still, so i took jv's sound fix and ran that but to my surprise there was still no dog sounds...

Do you know if these dog sounds are just knackered for mp in AA, or as someone actually got them working serverside without having the fix in there own main when testing.

Any help would be appreciated much, thanks....

I have not had luck with them server side only for SH, seems the client needs them enabled in an uber for SH, dont know about AA mate sorry.

works perfect clientside, but not serverside for non dedicated or dedicated.

Is all that done after level waittill spawn ? Not sure either about that . For a custom map it is easy to do with a tik that you can precache but for a serverside mode maybe just needs to be in the right place in the script .

Oh yeah, the old untouchable sound issue again!!! With all these Gurus in this post we may get lucky and fix the sound problem once and for all. It seems like everything else has been pushed to the limit, but the FRICKING :twisted: -->> ubersound <<-- that kills servers and mods in a heart beat :evil: I hope it gets resolve soon!!! :wink:

I've tried in various places, after "main" & before "level waittill prespawn,
After "level waittill prespawn" and after "level waittill spawn"

The server just never seems to have cached the aliases, but if the client as the same code it will work for him.

I dont get how you can replace the dog sounds with alternate sounds and they work, very odd.

when my dogs wouldnt "bark" i had to get a ubersound fix,i forget were i got it from,but do a search on good ol' google and im sure youll find it.

then maybe u can see what changes were made and fix your dog sounds :wink:

ok,i might have somthing.
go inside the ubersound.scr.
find the sound you want to use.
heres what i did to get a sound to work on multiplayer

example i found the sound "alarmbell" in ubersound.scr.
then i copied it the whole line.
example---> aliascache alarmbell sound/mechanics/Mec_Alarm_07.wav soundparms 1.2 0.0 1.0 0.0 300 12000 item loaded maps "m6l2a m6l2b m4 "

ok,now open yourmap.scr and add this b4 level waittill prespawn

local.master = spawn ScriptMaster

<---should look like this in prespawn.

add the scriptmaster line in prespawn,change all the endings to "m dm moh obj " like i did for alarmbell,your dogs will bark :wink:

I know how to do all that, i can get all sounds working apart from the dog ones, if i put the fix in a client it will work.

Dog sounds just dont work serverside for some reason.. :?

i just assumed it worked server side,i never actually uploaded it to my dedicated server andd tested it.

ok,how bout this

is there a way to call the sound without the alias,maybe spawn it by script using the path instead of alias.

local.sumtin another bla bla = sound/sound.wav(example)

is ther a way to call it usung its original path

Maybe but that way i'll have to tell it when to play it, and i dont want to have to link the sounds to the animation again. :?

Give it time i'll think of some fix, i hope. :x
