Why MOHAA?

Post by Green Beret »

i was just wondering what made so many stay with MOHAA.i know i personally love the game.i bought it the same day it came out.

but i was wondering, since i heard so much about half life and counter strike, and a couple others.not to mention some of the newer ones.battlefield ,battlefield vietnam, ghost recon.what made you stay with mohaa
(just assuming you dont mod for the other games,i know some do)

because its been years since it came out,yet still thousands of players still packing the servers 8-) i know i was on it 24/7 for the first year when i got it,really my first online game besides playing baseball online, but everyone quits on you if your winning.

but back to the modding, before i even got interested in modding was just recently after getting an interst after i seen a localization mod,i thought that was sweet..but there was mods comming out before i even knew how to modify a hud option.im assuming they were modders for other games first.but still i see the they still mod for MOHAA.

so i was just curious why MOHAA. :?

MOHAA is less realistic, but more fun, then alot of other engines.

the other ea series, battlefield... is much more realstic in several ways, but has many unsatisfying characteristics that keep me off it. For instance... I absolutely love snipring in battlefield, except for the fact that sniper rifles dont do nearly enough damage. It is much harder to snipe in the game to start with(a good thing) however, add to the equation the fact that you must hit in the head or heart to kill, and it becomes much less satisfying. If i hit someone in the upper torso, I want them to go down. Not run behind a building thousands of yeards away and heal themselves.

I never played COD...

I played CS once... wasnt overly impressed... not sure why.

Movement feels very good in mohaa...

I have tried other first-person shooters: half-life, UT, UT 2003, counter-strike. The only one i'm comfortable playing is mohaa. As Splaetos mentionned: Movement feels very good in mohaa.

I must also add, it's been the first FPS i've played on PC, i used to play consoles before and only played the first Medal of Honor on playstation, which i really liked. So when a version came out on PC, i tried it and adopted it since. :)

I've tried to analyze this: and apart from it just beeing a generally good game, the exactness of the controls gives a feeling of immersion that I havent found in any other FPS game. There is no lag between your input and the on screen-responce ( unless caused by "real" network lag that is, but that is not the games fault ).

ive played so many different PC FPS games i lost track of which ones I did and didnt. But MOHAA is the best in my opinion because I like how its sniper do proportional damage as to how affective they are, again i agree that movement is comfortable and some of the levels they have are fun! I think MOHPA is the first FPS to out do MOHAA lol. I LOVE how you can actualy control your squad in single player. I LOVE how you can go prone. I LOVE the det packs (the things u light a fuse and throw), and gameply is utterly amazing. EA has outdone themselves... again.

Hmmm why mohaa eh?
Well it was certainly my 1st first ps game i had ever played and its taken me virtualy all of 3 years to get damn good at it.
Its fluidity of movement and general feeling of being "in the battle" has always been a quality that only thus far mohaa has produced.
The game is unique and people are crying out for the same concept but with better physics/enviroment and sadly mohpa has not lived up to that concept which is mighty sad.
I myself have spent countless hours trying to mod/map for mohaa but i fear the end is nigh...the future lies within the likes of counter strike source of which im going to begrudgingly mod from, from now on as mohaa (as great as it is) is gradualy dying and interest is diminishing as the days past.
I love to map for mohaa but the obsticles are numerous and the interest in custom maps/mods are few....sad but true.
I have tried to produce a map or two of advanced graphics etc in the hope that people have upgraded their hardware etc as the game is 3 plus years old...the map ill offer you over the next day or so (carentan) will add weight to this as its very demanding of the gfx card and will not suit the person that has played mohaa on the same comp as when the game was released.
*end note*
I love moh but its finished and i say that with great amounts of sadness.

Well mastermind i am pleased that you are happy with the latest incarnation of the mohaa series, i am however very dissapointed (not for the 1st time) and feel personaly that as modders/mappers i say with much regret that we have reached the end with the moh series and many talented people have pushed this just about as far as it can go.
I will produce 1 or 2 more maps for this fantastic game and then move on to pastures new .
With much regret...seere.

Sad, but true... MoH, has lived its life, and killed WWII games for me (overuseage)

But i'll keep modding for now...

Well i think im going to go the HL2/counter strike source.
Never worked with their tools before so I have much to learn but there is a massive following and great support for modders.

I understand what your saying but the lack of enthusiasm for moh maps/mods is very frustrating.
We all put many hours into it and its only appreciated by the few where as the likes of counter strike source has the automatic download of custom maps etc and the massive following.
Just pissed at spending many hours on stuff that doesnt get the audience.
